I’m sure that all of you already know what exactly
the education is, and as we know education is exist in every country in this
world but the differences between them is
just the applying of education. Now let us make it specific, not
education in every country but just education in England.
The first that I want to tell you is about who is
the person or department which control education In England? In Indonesia we
have Menteri Pendidikan while England has :
Education is compulsory but school is not. (Jadi
pendidikan di inggris itu wajib tapi sekolah tidak)
In there the parents are free to choose enter their
childrens in Public School or EHE (Elective Home Education) as we know in
Indonesia as Home Schooling. I’m sure that the parents have consider the reason
to choose their children enter Home Schooling, maybe because their children get
sick, has a lot’s of schedule, get bullying and ect. But from now on, we just
talking about Education which get in School.
In Indonesia we have KTSP and K13 Curriculum but in
England they have The National Curriculum. This Curriculum is not must apply in
every school in England but most of them used this Curriculum. There are 2
(two) aims of the national Curriculum, they are :
- Aim 1 : The school curriculum should aim to provide opportunities for all pupils to learn and to achieve.
- Aim 2 : The school curriculum should aim to promote pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and prepare all pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.
The national curriculum sets out the programs of
study and attainment targets for all subjects at all 5 key stages.
And they are also have some programs of study such
as :
Each year, the academic
calendar begins in September and ends the following year in June or July. One
academic year is divided into 2 semesters: 1st semester starts from September
to January, then 2nd semester begins end of January until end of May.
